BILLION $ AI For Poverty ID – Minus MILLION Jobless Youths
FG Cash Transfer.
Bravo! Kudos to F.G. for successfully using AI to Identify 6.5 Million Urban Poor for Cash Transfers with Total Social Register Hitting 19.7 Million – No More Cash Payments, Only Bank Transfers, by yeidep online, June 1, 2025.
This is downright magnanimity, in the face of the tight squeeze from the side effects of fuel subsidy.
Typicality this is in line with many African countries, where the most expensive luxury cars in the world are to be seen cresting dirty, bumpy roads on their way into high-walled chalets, duplexes and fenced bungalows.
It is reported that there are more expensive Mercedes Benz cars in the country than in Germany, the country of their manufacture. Cross-Mediterranean business transactions cash books indicate the highest consumption rate of the most expensive and finest wines and spirits than France, its vineyard.
Mobile phones, a good technological development to ease communication, has turned into life-line, without which living becomes excruciating hell. Seems like mere folklore, how our old folks, who are leaders today, managed not to suffocate in the days of only land lines for telephones, without the internet.
The paraphernalia of modernity has gripped our fiber and eaten away our basic human instinct, and left us soulless, almost.
Feeling, empathy, are necessary ingredients of living. Without these, life becomes as stiff, cold, and dull as the smoky hills on the Jos Plateau.
E.G. - Procure bullet-proof cars worth billions of dollars, and ply the cars on the bad roads that a fraction of that money could have fixed. E. T. C., E.T.C.
Poverty alleviation has been on the front burner of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. And doling out cash to the poor reminds us of the street beggars whom kind hearted car owners stop by to sprinkle them with pennies.
Tinubu should also turn his robotic AI attention to the electoral process.
Suppose we hand over the laborious, chuku-chuku, failing BVAS machines election process to AI? If AI could easily fish out the poor among us, how much more beneficial if AI was to conduct our Presidential election, and to fish out the malpractices?
It is true that in many advanced countries today, industrial robots have stolen some of the jobs from humans.
Note however, that If under-developed African countries jump-start in deploying AI to seize jobs from the unprepared youths, it would appear as though we are heading into the eye of the storm with a blindfold.
Keep out of the storm.
Keep out of trouble.
Keep safe.
